Jodhpur is
the second largest metropolitan city in the India's western state
Rajasthan(Rajputana). Jodhpur is the thirty-fifth largest city of India. Jodhpur
was the judiciary capital of Rajasthan. It is the gateway of Thar desert. Jodhpur is known as the
"Sun city" for its Sunshiny weather.Marwar was the largest estate of Rajasthan
and Jodhpur was its capital. There are so many tourist places for visits and
this "Sun city" is the most historical place. Jodhpur was settled up
by the Rathore king "Rao Jodha" in 1459. Mehrangarh fort, Mandore garden, Jaswant thada, Kaylana lake are the
famous tourist places in Jodhpur.
There is old city in Jodhpur on rock bottom of Mehrangarh fort.
In this old city most of the houses are blur colored, that's Jodhpur is also
known as "Blue city". Jodhpur is located in the center side of the
state, so it is the gateway for other tourist cities of Rajasthan like
Jaisalmer, Pali etc. for tourists.
The city is also famous for its lovely dishes
and sweets its popularity can be judged from the fact that one can find sweet
shops named 'Jodhpur Sweets' in many cities throughout our country.
A number of fares from Indian dishes commenced in Jodhpur,
such as famous Lassi,
Mawa Ki Kachori, Masala Kachori, Hot & Spicy Samosa ,Dal Batti Churma with Lasan
ki Chutney and Mirchi ka kutaa etc.There are
so many varieties of sweets ranging
from classical "Thorr", "Motichur
Ke Laddu", "Maave ki Chakki" and delicious "Gulab
Jamun" are cooked by a conventional house "Jodhpur Sweets".
The artifact or hand
made art industry has, in recent years, overshadowed all the other
industries in the city. After handicrafts, tourism is the second largest
industry of Jodhpur.
Wheat and famous spicy Mathania chilley are the major
agricultural exports. Mathania's chilies are famous and Jodhpur is the major
marketplace for this product.
There are two high courts in Rajasthan and Jodhpur is its major branch.
It was established on 21 June 1949.
