The Jaswant
Thada is a monument located in the western city of Rajasthan, Jodhpur.It
was famed as one of the best white marble monument, it was built in 1899 by Maharaja Sardar Singh in memory of his
father, Maharaja Jaswant Singh ǀǀ and
serves as the cremation ground for the royal family.
The mausoleum is built out of
intricately carved sheets of marble. These sheets are extremely thin and
polished so that they emit a warm glow when illuminated by the sun.
The monument's grounds feature carved summerhouse, a tiered garden, and a small lake. There are three other monuments in the grounds. The monument of Maharaja Jaswant Singh displays portraits of the rulers and Maharajas of Jodhpur. This is the white wonder of Rajasthan. This magnificent building is perfect example of Rajputana mode of architecture. Visitors can click several pictures of the splendid edifice, besides sharing a frame with it.
